During the month of June at Gallery 111, our new exhibit Worlds within Worlds will bring together the work of four regional artists who explore the fantastical within their practice while drawing on past and present cultures. All creating surreal compositions, core members Gavy Swan and Janet Donaghey, along with guest artists Gita Karklins and Juliet Jancso, present dreamlike iconography, which is both whimsical and mystical when viewed against the harsh realities of our world today. Through the mediums of clay, textile art and oil paintings, these artists clearly demonstrate their intellect and imagination while devoting themselves to the creation or celebration of otherworldly spaces and entities. From playful renderings of pajama bottoms ascending into summer blue skies to flying sows, this show is bound to make you smile. Please join us on Thursday, June 13 to meet the artists at their reception from 5:00 til 9:00 

Barrie Spring Art Tour - The Art and Soul of Barrie

The Barrie Spring Art Tour kicks off this Friday, April 26 with an opening reception running from 7 p.m.  til 9 p.m. at the Creative Space in our lovely downtown located at 12 Dunlop St. E. Come and meet the artists, enjoy music and a light snack.
The Art Tour itself is happening on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is a self guided tour and you can download a brochure at the Barrie Spring Art Tour web site, or swing by our shop to pick one up and you can make us your first stop. There are 50 artists being showcased in 15 different Barrie locations and the weather is saying warm spring temperatures. Don't forget to stop for lunch at one of downtown Barrie's many wonderful restaurants or cafes.

Hat Class Success With Le Petit Chapeau

 

Our fascinator class, hosted at English & Miller went marvelously. All of our expected students showed up and had a great time. They pillaged the supplies just as we hoped they would and asked when the next class would be.
At the end of the day everyone came away with at least one lovely fascinator and in some cases two. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get a group photo but we have got photographs of everyone.

We will be doing this class again in the warmer months with a whole new selection of colours to choose from. As for the second class, it is in the works I promise, we've just been busy with all new hat designs for spring and summer.

Fascinator Hat Class

Yes, after years of being ask for it we are finally teaching a hat class and class #2 is being worked out by Sara right now.

What you may or may not be able to read beside the dates and times for the class is that there is no lunch provided during the class. We hope you can join us for an afternoon of fun hat making.

Fascinator Class from le Petit Chapeau

We have finally started working out a 'facinator' class to teach. We hope to offer this class at English and Miller Tea shop at the end of the Mews in their "tea room". The class will offer a tea and snack during the 4-ish hours when you will be making your very own 'facinator'. The class will be to make simple yet fun headband or comb based yo-yo cluster with feathers and buttons. We also plan to make kits of the same things to sell in the shop. Sara and I have ball-parked the price to be anywhere from $50 to $100 per person for the class. Once we confirm everything with Jean at the tea shop we'll post all the information for you.
